I took the prompt pretty literally. But hey, it was Pride month when this prompt was set, and I felt in the mod to post this on AO3 around the time of my local Pride, so I gave it an edit and posted it.

This basically a bit of a continuation of A Moment of Pride, but you don’t need to read it to understand this fic.

Merlin Myddrin and Arthur Pendragon are best friends and roommates who work together at the Camelot Times. Merlin has been head over heels for Arthur since the moment they met. But all Arthur can talk about is the mysterious superhero who has recently started saving people across the city. Arthur is desperate to land an interview with the man and is under a lot of pressure from his father to get an interview or else lose his job.

Little does Arthur know that the mysterious hero Emrys is closer than he thinks...
Notes: delicirony, I really hope that this fulfills your prompt. I tried my best to write within the spirit of the prompts you gave, even though I didn't follow them exactly. I've always been a big Superman fan, so this is what really called to me in the end (although I did end up writing a 600+ word plot for a You've Got Mail AU, so who knows maybe that will eventually see the light of day if I get the time to write it). I tried to include as many of your likes as the boys would allow in the story. It turned out to be quite a lot longer than the 5000 word limit as this one got away from me, oops! I'm sure you'll all forgive me though, as it is Christmas. :)

Summary: He didn’t often do this, in truth he tried to do it as little as possible. But sometimes, sometimes… he just had to. He was only human after all. A sheepish smile crossed his lips as he remembered with embarrassment the first and only time he’d attempted it at home in Ealdor. His mother was out at a neighbour’s for the evening. He shook his head, no never inside again. The broken crockery, the carpet of grass, the newly grown tree in the house... Only outside from now on, as far as away as possible from others and only when he was desperate and he had to admit after a day like today, he was desperate.
